What to Expect?
- New York Paid Family Leave. Effective January 1, 2018, all New York employers will need to give time off to employees to care for family members. Join us to discuss the implications of this new law, its requirements, and related issues before implementation.
- New York City Fair Chance Act. Under this law, NYC employers must follow specific steps before they can deny employment to individuals because of prior criminal convictions. We will discuss the new Act, its exceptions, and the actions that employers must take before they can disqualify applicants or employees because of prior criminal convictions.
- Pre-Employment Compensation Information. Beginning in October, NYC employers will be prohibited from asking about an applicant’s compensation history. We will discuss the parameters of what can and cannot be asked about such compensation history under this new law.
- Accommodating Transgender Employees. We will discuss best practices on transgender-related topics that arise in the workplace, such as employment applications, bathrooms, changing areas and the use of pronouns.
