By NYC Hospitality Alliance

As you have probably heard, due to COVID-19, Governor Cuomo and Mayor de Blasio announced that starting today (Friday) at 5:00PM any event with more than 500 people will have to be cancelled

As you have probably heard, due to COVID-19, Governor Cuomo and Mayor de Blasio announced that starting today (Friday) at 5:00PM any event with more than 500 people will have to be cancelled. Businesses with an occupancy of less than 500 people will need to reduce their occupancy by 50%, this includes restaurants, bars and nightclubs. Due to the nature of this state of emergency, exact details of this guidance are not yet available, and we cannot guarantee when it will be. We know as business operators you must make decisions ASAP, as 5:00pm is upon us. Therefore, the only thing the NYC Hospitality Alliance can responsibly advise you is to read the interim guidance from the NYS Department of Health by clicking here and use common-sense to adhere as best as possible to the information provided. You can also adhere to social distancing recommendations by keeping tables spaced farther apart than normal, and by asking guests standing at a bar to keep a distance from each other.

We understand that this guidance will still create additional questions and pose challenges, but this is the most up-to-date and practical advice we can provide you at this time. Please use common-sense and do everything you can to follow this guidance in order to keep people as safe as possible while keeping your business open. When official guidance is provided by the government, we will share it with you.
