I would like to share the information we have for employees that are affected by lay-offs. Some you likely already passed on, however there may be some other useful information here.  Our career centers are currently all closed.  There are some virtual services  that they can access below.

  •  Fact Sheets for impacted workers:
    • How to file an Unemployment Insurance Claim
      • The fastest and most secure way to apply (file a claim) for Unemployment Insurance benefits is on our website at www.labor.ny.gov/signin or a person can also file by phone toll-free at 888-209-8124.  
        Hours for filing have been expanded:
      • Mon.- Thurs. 8 am - 7:30 pm
      • Fri. 8 am - 6 pm
      • Sat. 7:30 am - 8 pm
  •  Here is the link to NYS Health Marketplace for workers who now need Health Insurance. 
  • Here are some virtual job seeking tools that impacted workers can use right now from the safety of their own home.
    • JobZone-
      • JobZone is a no-cost, interactive resource developed by the New York State Department of Labor to help adults manage their careers.  Adults can explore career interests, occupations, and job openings.
      • Also available is the ability to “Live Chat” with a Career Advisor for advice and job search strategies.
    • Interview Stream
      • InterviewStream is a web-based mock interview program that is offered free to our customers to assist them with improving their interviewing skills.  This easy-to-use online program uses on-screen, recorded interview scenarios developed by employment professionals. The program allows users to record an interview and re-watch it or submit it to the website where a workforce advisor can view the video and provide feedback.
    • How to Prepare for Job Interviews
      • Is an online resource on our webpage that lists current job openings in New York's 10 regional economies. New Yorkers can view the region they live in, see which industries are growing and find out what jobs are available in that economic sector. Job opening numbers are updated frequently.  You’ll find:
        •  Businesses hiring because they are unaffected by COVID-19
        •  Businesses hiring in response to COVID-19
