TAKE ACTION to enact a third party delivery fee cap of 10% immediately
Restaurants and workers in New York City are struggling to survive. We need to enact a third party delivery fee cap of 10% immediately. San Francisco Mayor London Breed gets it and Tweeted:
"Restaurants are struggling to survive, and delivery is their main option for staying open. I'm instituting a cap on the fees that delivery services can charge restaurants during this emergency, because it can make the difference between them staying afloat or laying-off staff."
So, today we ask, NYS Governor Cuomo, NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio, and all our elected leaders:
"What is taking New York so long to institute a 10% cap on third party delivery fees, especially when it's well-documented how companies like Grubhub and Seamless are exploiting local restaurants before and during this crisis?"
The Governor or Mayor should use their emergency powers they used to close and limit restaurant operations to NOW cap third party delivery fees. Or, the City Council needs to immediately pass Int. 1908 and Mayor de Blasio must sign it into law. Small businesses cannot wait.
