Indoor Dining Capacity Increasing To 75%

By NYC Hospitality Alliance

Today Governor Cuomo announced that beginning on Friday, May 7th indoor dining capacity will increase from 50% to 75% in NYC, putting restaurants and bars on par with restaurants throughout the rest of New York State.

This news comes after a very busy week in which The Alliance’s advocacy alerts informed you that the requirement for a “food item” to be sold with alcohol was eliminated, that seating at bars will be allowed in NYC beginning May 3rd, and that the midnight curfew will be removed for indoor dining on May 31st, and more

NYC’s hospitality industry has been decimated by the pandemic, and while there’s still a long road to recovery, this week’s announcements on easing restaurant and bar restrictions, applications opening to apply for the Restaurant Revitalization Fund, and the major news that NYC will “reopen” in the coming months provides a shot of cautious optimism after an extraordinarily trying 13+ months.

These important accomplishments are made possible by members’ support of the NYC Hospitality Alliance, and the partnership of so many. We will keep fighting for the future of our city’s restaurant and nightlife industry.
