Lawsuit Business Interruption Insurance

By NYC Hospitality Alliance

Yesterday, the law firm Jenner & Block filed a lawsuit in NYS Supreme Court in Brooklyn on behalf of a diverse and iconic group of restaurants, bars, and hospitality companies seeking business interruption coverage from each of their insurers.

The NYC Hospitality Alliance has been fighting on behalf of the restaurant and nightlife industry to have business interruption insurance claims related to COVID-19 paid. We've been advocating for policy solutions at a state and federal level while also encouraging small businesses to explore their legal options.

If you're interested in being added to the lawsuit, please contact Jeremy Creelan to discuss at jcreelan@jenner.com.

The NYC Hospitality Alliance issued the following statement in response to the lawsuit:

"Restaurant, bar and nightclub owners have been paying premiums for business interruption insurance and were shocked to have their claims denied in the midst of this crisis. Getting these business interruption insurance claims paid will help countless small businesses and that’s why it’s so important that they will have their day in court."
