NYC Policies To Support Hospitality

By NYC Hospitality Alliance

Today, the NYC Hospitality Alliance testified at a City Council hearing regarding preventing further business loss during the second wave of COVID-19.

Although we've been successfully advocating for many NYC level polices since COVID-19 hit, such as suspending enforcement of personal liability guarantees in leases, creating the outdoor dining program (Open Restaurants), capping third-party delivery fees, and more, it is crystal clear that our city's restaurants and nightlife establishments need A LOT more support from all levels of government.

In our testimony today before the City Council, we called on the city to convert small business' sales tax collection into cash grants, forgive property taxes, provide expedited COVID-19 tests to our industry's employees, require that third-party companies (delivery, reservation platforms, etc) provide ownership of customer data to restaurants, provide as much advanced notice as possible regarding any change in policies to businesses, and more.
