On Saturday, June 23rd, the NYC Hospitality Alliance’s Andrew Rigie spoke at the Rev. Al Sharpton’s House of Justice in Harlem to urge Gov. Cuomo to save the restaurant industry tip credit.
Rev. Sharpton and Minister Kirstin John Foy made passionate speeches about the importance of the tip credit. Other speakers and supporters on hand included Alliance Board Member’s Tren’ness Woods-Black of Sylvia’s Harlem Restaurant, Susannah Koteen of Lido, tipped workers such as Tezra Bryant who published a powerful op-ed about the tip credit, and elected officials like NYS Senator Brian Benjamin who had an opinion piece last week in the Amsterdam News about the importance of the tip credit to Harlem restaurateurs and workers.
Join us at our coalition rally on Wednesday, June 27, prior the Department of Labor’s final tip credit hearing. Your voice must be heard! #SaveNYtips
