The Alliance team testified at a virtual NYC Council's hearing and we need you to take action
This week, The Alliance's Andrew Rigie and Robert Bookman testified at a virtual NYC Council hearing on a package of small business relief bills we advocated for. If enacted, the legislation will suspend personal liability in leases related to COVID-19, cap third party delivery fees at 10%, waive sidewalk café fees this year, and more.
You can watch Andrew and Robert in action testifying at the hearing and answering questions posed by City Council Members.
Now, more than ever, We NEED you to immediately use our fast and easy system to send a pre-written email (edit for greater impact) to your City Council Members urging them to support bills and oppose others. VERY IMPORTANT: send a separate email from EACH restaurant and nightlife establishment you operate in NYC.
- This bill would prohibit the enforcement of personal liability provisions in commercial leases or rental agreements involving a COVID-19 impacted tenant where the default or other trigger event happened during the COVID-19 state of emergency.
- This bill would prohibit certain third-party food delivery services, entities that provide restaurants with online order and delivery services, from charging restaurants more than a 10% fee per order for the use of their service.
- This bill requires the Department of Consumer Affairs to waive and/or refund all fees due in the year 2020 related to sidewalk café licenses.
