Cut the Red Tape & Reduce Fines
The NYC Hospitality Alliance, on multiple occasions successfully advocated to reduce fine amounts and allow warnings and cure periods for many violations for restaurants and nightlife establishments. This has been estimated to have saved small businesses tens of millions of dollars. We’ve also won reforms that cut the red tape and bureaucracy so small businesses could open and expand much faster, but we continue to fight to reduce unnecessary fines, to further streamline the permitting and licensing process and to create a regulatory environment that is focused on education and training first and issuing fines and penalties as a last resort.
