No More Surprises: Protect Outdoor Dining & Restaurants from Street Resurfacing Disruptions

Today, the NYC Hospitality Alliance submitted testimony to the NYC Council pushing for stronger protections against disruptions caused by street resurfacing. While essential for fixing streets, resurfacing can hurt businesses by:
❌ Closing outdoor dining
❌ Reducing foot traffic
❌ Creating delivery issues
❌ Reduce hours for workers
We’re advocating for:
✔️ At least 1 month notice before resurfacing
✔️ Better coordination with the city’s roadway café program
✔️ Prioritizing resurfacing to minimize disruptions
✔️ Prorated fee refunds when businesses can’t operate outdoor cafés
These changes are crucial to protecting small businesses and the hospitality industry.
